Characters in these novels have long, earnest arguments (okay) in which the atheist/Jewish/Protestant characters always lose (not okay).
It's okay: they're in good company. Even in Father Brown, the polemic dumps don't always fit in well with the rest of the story. And the Calvinists, atheists, new-agers and anti-clericalists ALWAYS LOSE. Rawr.
