Chapter 7, Dead to Rights and Wide Awake, is finished, and a few minor edits have been inflicted on previous chapters as well, to make things fit. (For instance, I realised too late that it's completely implausible time-wise for Jim McCree to have been appointed by Trudeau. So whatever, it was Chrétien. Sorry about that.) Thanks to Minisinoo for stirring up interesting discussions on Catholicity in Marvel and Xavier's own faith.

Chapter 8 should be finished sooner rather than later, so long as I don't suddenly get cursed with a full-time job.

Thanks so much! Yeah, I'm not really a hardcore fic-reader either, which sometimes makes me feel guilty and out-of-the-loop. Writing but not reading seems a little selfish to me, but I may just be weird.

I may print all these comments off and look upon them wistfully the next time I have a plot issue or otherwise feel stupid. Propping up the ego is an excellent hobby, almost as good as self-pity (to paraphrase Robertson Davies).

I just discovered this from a recommendation by [livejournal.com profile] minisinoo in [livejournal.com profile] comics_genfic and I am pleased as punch. I mean, yes it's well written and characterized and stuff, but Château Laurier! In fiction! Okay, this isn't actually my fandom, but I have a new rule made up for the purpose of this fic, where I will read anything that mentions Trudeau or makes fun of WLMK. It's just lucky for my that you're such an awesome writer, because I think I'd have to read this irregardless.

Thanks! I'm amazed that the Canadian content is actually kind of popular -- I thought I was being incredibly self-indulgent by injecting all that stuff from my nerdy Ottawa childhood into X-Men. (I am yet to be congratulated on my masterful poke at Bob Rae's autobiography, but since the number of people under thirty who read and remembered that volume and then went on to X-Men fandom has to be astronomically low, I am not surprised.) This is awesome.
