I dropped some cash on the DVDs a while ago, purely on the strength of LJ recommendation. Also because I found Starbuck and Roslin cute and wanted to get in on some of that.

Tonight was the first time I actually sat down and watched it, and I just finished the miniseries. My lame thoughts:

1. I will never get tired of father-son angst.
2. Boxey is the same kid from X2, right?
3. What a blatant fucking ripoff of Siddig El Fadil, and not even as charming. Fun anyway, though.
4. Lee = pretty, but I always kind of resent liking the eye candy. You can't manipulate me, networks!
5. Why did they bother having Starbuck look so dykey if they're just going to go TOTALLY STRAIGHT, AFFAIR WITH ZAK, HURR all over the place?
6. I have still not forgiven Callum Keith Rennie for what he did to Due South.
7. Will I be disappointed with how they flesh out the religion in future episodes?
8. I want to punch Adama Sr. I'm not clear on why. Is this normal?

As I plough through the first season, is there anything people care to rec to me?

1. I will never get tired of father-son angst.
- Good, it is well done...and in some minds (not mine) erotic. I worry about these minds.

2. Boxey is the same kid from X2, right?
- I haven't a clue what this means.
3. What a blatant fucking ripoff of Siddig El Fadil, and not even as charming. Fun anyway, though.
- Yes, agreed. But he's evil, and has a hot girl in his head. I would never leave my cabin.

4. Lee = pretty, but I always kind of resent liking the eye candy. You can't manipulate me, networks!
I like the way he's put together, his face seems a bit off to me...but his shoulders are gold.

5. Why did they bother having Starbuck look so dykey if they're just going to go TOTALLY STRAIGHT, AFFAIR WITH ZAK, HURR all over the place?
- Dude, the dyke look is "in." Totally hot.

6. I have still not forgiven Callum Keith Rennie for what he did to Due South.
- I haven't the foggiest what that means.

7. Will I be disappointed with how they flesh out the religion in future episodes?
- Short answer: Yes
Long answer: Also Yes

8. I want to punch Adama Sr. I'm not clear on why. Is this normal?
- Not for me, I'm watching the show for him. I want to hump his leg.

Also...I am tempted to ask to borrow the DVDs...but given that I barely know you...yeah.

Also...I'm shocked how I was unable to follow even my own system of spaces and paragraphs.

Yeah, from some angles I'm like "Yes, Apollo hotness!" and from some angles I'm like "Don't pluck your eyebrows anymore, dude." But he's one of the few male cast members who fucking shaves, he has pretty eyes, and the angst thing. Case closed, he's pretty.

I'd let you borrow them if I were still in Orleans, but the mail is such a bitch that I'm not inclined to bother. :(

Personally, though Type Six (or whatever name is) strikes me as the "Apollo hotness" for men...though I find her rather boring. It's all about Boomer, SHE is hot. That opening scene where they say "Some are programmed to think they're human"...that gets me every times.

Also (should go to bed)

What exactly is attractive about Adama, out of curiosity? Does he get better/more interesting as the season goes on? Do I just hate him because I secretly hate my own father? Inquiring minds, etc.

Well...you know he does come across as the really angry father...but for me he's the epitome of "cool." My friend Finch pointed out that one of the only times he shows any emotion at all (besides kicking the shit out of that Cylon on the rearming station) is when Starbuck tells him why his son died...and even then he's restrained for the most part. Then Starbuck almost dies and again he shows emotion when he's glad she is still alive...but it's always very calm and not letting too much out. For me that's just fracking cool.

Um, I hope that made sense, it's late and my bed is demanding my attention.
